Fatima's Blog

About

I am a 61 year young grandmother of twin 15 year old girls. I love to read. I love to do mosaics and dye cloth to make patterns. I make stamps to stamp patterns on cloth, too. I had one daughter (the twins’ mother) and they live close by in San Antonio, TX. I am a convert to Islam which my family does not like much, even though they aren’t religious. I am very involved with the mystical side of religion, with spirituality rather than rote religion. I suffer from depression and anxiety, but see a therapist and am doing well. I love to write and hence the blog.It helps me get my thoughts out. I am another blog but it is seen on Facebook and that has gotten me into trouble with my daughter. So I am creating this blog to write what I don’t necessarily want her to see and make snide remarks about. So that’s me.

Assalam o alaikum!
I found you!(smiling)

I’m glad you found me. Things are terrible with Sabrina and me. I am supposed to have two medical procedures next week and now she won’t help me with them so I have to cancel them. She thinks I have been cruel to her and hate her. She has misinterpreted everything I have written, and when we were on the phone last night she realized that I had not said something she thought I said. She is obsessed with my blogs now. She has practically disowned me. She hung up on me last night on the phone. I’ve talked to my therapist and told him the truth, that I have said things that upset her, but she is so obsessed with every little word I have written that it is impossible to talk to her. Her husband wrote me a very rude and nasty email last night because she is carrying on so. He DEMANDED that I not write anything about my daughter, granddaughters, or him in my blogs. It is just a nightmare. I have a migraine from it this morning. I have to cancel at least one of the procedures today (the bunion surgery) which she is accusing me of deliberately trying to make it worse. How messed up is that? My gastrointerologist wants me to have a colonoscopy since I have been having problems for 5 or 6 weeks. Right now it isn’t too bad, but there must be something wrong for it to continue for so long and then stop and then start again. I just don’t know what to do.

Relax! Leave everything and relax! Things will get better soon in shaa Allah! Well, has she read ‘My daughter’s perspective’ and ‘S is for Sabrina’? They were good.

Reading your blog has made my heart hurt!! I am so sorry that things are so strained between you and your daughter. Obviously I don’t know her, but it just seems as if its in her nature, she probably doesn’t even realise how much she
upsets you- what with not coming over on holidays etc.

Reading this has made me want to give you a big hug! i want to tell you not to take it personally, which must be so hard as you obviously really love your daughter. my advice would be to put your time, love and energy into people who want, deserve and reciprocate it.

Spend time with friends, bond with people via your religion, or even online via blogs 😉 there are plenty of people who DO care xxx

Thank you for your kind words. My daughter is bery much like my mother, with whom I had a rocky relationship. I am lucky that I have a sister to talk to and may consider moving back to New York next year to be closer to family is things here do not improve.

I appreciate your good wishes and will take your advice. It is good.

Dear Friend,

It always makes me sad to hear how you are being treated. I always remember the hadith: Be in this world as if you are a traveler, a passer-by, for this is not home. There is another family you are part of even if you may not be aware of it.

If you come to NYC, Ill invite you to lunch before hand in the meantime I pray that your health gets better and that you are smiling amidst all of this

Dave

Thank you, Dave. There have been complications with my procedure tomorrow already about what time my daughter needs to be there and I have to call her and let her know. It won’t be pretty. I wish I were in New York right now.
